Strata University FAQ's

Question 1.

I wish to become a new online student. What should I do to make sure that I find out about the courses and enroll correctly?

Response:

It is very important that you utilize the Strata University site. We highly recommend that you take the Quick Quiz and review the Technical Requirements. By following these steps, you will have a great deal of information on whether online learning will work for you

Question 2.

Will I need to attend any sessions on the campus?

Response:

Strata courses currently offered do not require the student to attend any on campus class sessions. However, a few courses may have a mandatory or recommended orientation meeting held on the campus. Please check the course description to find out if there is a mandatory or recommended orientation meeting. Course descriptions may be found by clicking on "Course Info."

Question 3.

How much time will I be spending per week for my online course?

Response:

Although the assignments will vary from course to course, you can expect to spend the same amount of time on assignments outside of the regular course as with an on campus course. You should plan to spend an hour on the computer for each unit as an equivalent to going to class AND an additional hour per unit to work on assignments.

Question 4.

Can I complete all my course work in one month?

Response:

No, you must participate in the course week by week throughout the semester. Many courses incorporate collaborative projects. These allow you to work with other students in the course. You will also have frequent interaction with your instructor. Strata courses are not independent study courses.

Question 5.

I was placed on the waiting list for an online course. How will I be notified if I am in the course?

Response:

You will be notified by email within 2 weeks if you have been placed in the course. Please be sure that the college has your current email address. If you are on a waiting list for a course which has a recommended or mandatory meeting on campus, you should attend the meeting. You may be able to add the course at that time.

Question 6.

Is there a set time each week at which an online class is offered, or can I work on the class at my own pace and at the time available to me?

Response:

You can login anytime. In the online classes you work on your own, within the time frame established by the instructor. You won't have to logon at a specific time, unless the teacher is having a mandatory chat session, but you will have deadlines to complete assignments. It's a flexible learning environment, but you need to keep up with the assignments week by week.

Question 7.

After registering, how do I know when to login to my class?

Response:

Within 48 hours of registering for an online course you will receive an email message with login instructions. The actual course material will not be available until the first day of classes, but there is an introductory course on how to use the online learning environment that you should work on prior to that.

Question 8.

Do I need to buy a textbook for my online course?

Response:

Yes, you do need to purchase a textbook. The Strata University Bookstore will ship you the books so you don't need to come on campus to purchase them. Follow one of the links to the Bookstore to find out more.
